Architectural installation with sculptures and silkscreen prints
Various dimensions

Below the building, you can still see them. The arches in In de Ruimte (flex office that is housed in the vaults under Casco and FOTODOK) are a typical foundation construction of this area from the late 14th and early 15th centuries. They are one of the few surviving parts of the building from the time of Saint Ursula’s Convent. Later on, in 1888, the former school was constructed on top of it. The vaults are carrying not only the building of Lange Nieuwstraat 7 but reach underground to the Oudegracht and surrounding buildings in the Abraham Dolehof. The medieval inner city lives on in the present thanks to this underground frame that once was developing in an organic way. It might be the most elusive and ghostly part of the neighbourhood while it remains the most concrete.
