Ondiep Sculptuur (Shallow sculpture) is about the façades which we live behind. The windows of our houses are breaking up the blocks and cubes we are living in. They bring light into the chambers and rooms which we inhabit, but at the same time, they also bring the public space into our domestic space. To provide ourselves shelter from the public domain we close our windows with curtains, shutters, and vitrages. Ondiep Sculptuur is an architectural structure that shows the window as an étalage. The window which would normally provide us a hint of the inside world has now become a closed surface. Therefore, the sculpture forces the viewer to remain an outsider.
