Dwarsoverdwars, 2024
Hard wood on a concrete base
290 x 150 x 150 cm

Dwarsoverdwars (2024) was part of the public sculpture project and group exhibition BUILD!, Utrecht (NL)
14.09.24 - 30.11.24

Dwarsoverdwars (2024) is the result of research into the historical transition of Lage Weide (Utrecht) from an agricultural to an industrial area, looking to the many ancient farms that were replaced by distribution halls and warehouses. The wooden trusses are a reference to Elink Schuurman (1870-1950), the former ‘weigraaf’ of Lage Weide who made an unwavering effort to preserve this agricultural heritage from destruction. Dwarsoverdwars is a tribute to wood as a building material and an endeavor to restore the human scale and dimension to this industrial environment.
